I love Lana to death, and Ultraviolence is one of my all time fave albums but I Never Learn, lyrically, is far above Ultraviolence when it comes to bringing up real emotions.

Lana's personal allegories kind of disconnect me from some of her songs on a lyrical point.

Makes the whole experience 100x worse, it's a HARD listen. But fantastic nonetheless.

I know how that feels.. I was like that with Born To Die. Except that is nowhere near as deep and as powerful as I Never Learn. I like reveling myself in music. It makes it so much easier for me to express my emotions. Even when I'm not feeling sad, I might occasionally play something that I know triggers an emotion for me and let out a cathartic cry.

The whole album is flawless and heartbreaking to me but if you just want to try a couple of songs out, I suggest Smother and Tomorrow.

I have the same way of thinking as Lana. That probably helped. Lykke's are too direct. Still extremely depressing though.

This is what I've been doing since September, eventually the songs that hurt become therapeutic, and sometimes they'll be just as painful again depending on the day. It's a bittersweet, but magical thing.

I Never Learn and Transatlantacism/Plans by Death Cab both were his and my albums. They **** me up still but thats kind of what makes them even more special.

Ah, that makes sense. Her old Hollywood glamour imagery takes away from a lot of connection I have with her take on heartbreak, but she has some songs that are completely on point for me.

Pawn Shop Blues being a prime example.
