So what I did was vector addition.The ship's velocity with respect to the water (V1), plus the velocity of the water with respect to land (V2)

e = unit vector east
n = unit vector north

V1 = 30 sin 192 e + 30 cos 192 n
V2 = 14 sin 112 e + 14 cos 112 n.

add them!

The angle of the resultant with the west direction is -tan inverse (24.100/19.219) = -51.429 degrees. (The resultant is pointing SW.)

The bearing is 270 degrees - 51.4 degrees = 218.6 degrees

The resultant is about 30.8 km/h on a bearing of 218.6 degrees.

I get how to use the formulas, but what I'm confused about is how you get -102 degrees and 158 degrees.

I'm just trying to past the class. I'll be damned if Botany is the one biology class that keeps me from graduating in December. It's sad that I can make an A in Micro, but struggle in Botany. It's clearly the professor and her 100% all written exams

omg how are you passing Microbio with an A? I'm struggling with a B+ right now but I REALLY REALLY want an A . I want to dedicate more time to studying it, but omg I'm taking Japanese 2 this semester and

I took Micro last semester. I dedicated a lot of time to it and drew/diagrammed out a lot of the mechanisms so I could better understand it. Plus, to me, a lot of material in Micro was a rehash of stuff I'd learned in Genetics and Cell.

AND.... I really wanted an A and had an A until the final. I ended up with an 89.7 , but I don't want to talk about that. It would've been an A, but I called my gram stain wrong on one of my practicals . He said it looked perfect, but I called it as gram positive instead of gram negative.
