They might take supplements. But there's a lot of food that contain natural calcium that isn't from an animal source such as greens like kale, broccoli or fruits like blackcurrants etc. Or they might drink non-dairy milks that are fortified with calcium.

Not all animals that are eaten suffered, for example there's free range and kosher where the animals are killed as humanely as possible (kosher meat is da bomb)
