Game of Thrones is far more interesting. It's so consistent too. Don't know why we are mentioning the Hobbit Films though, I think we all unanimously decided they should be forgotten.

A Song of Ice and Fire can be almost unreadable at times though. George R. R. Martin comes up with wonderful plots and events but he has to drag out the most mundane and boring sequences that are mainly unneeded. Tolkien definitely wins there.
Martin fails horribly as a Lore writer. Tolkien is obviously the archetypal Lore writer. But I find the politics of GOT more compelling than the plot of LOTR. But the LOTR films are such an incredible realization that I can't imagine a fantasy film adaptation that's better.

True, he drags everything out. I almost Demid myself while reading the 4th book. But it so happens that even as a child I found lotr to be boring and too vanilla/pg13. GOT >>>>>>>
