Uptown Funk still has a significant airplay and streaming lead, so it is comfortable at #1 right now. UF still has the Trinidad remix to release to I-Tunes and Spotify, and they can discount all versions of the song to 69 cents, if they get too concerned about losing their top spot next week.

"Shake It Off" had over 550,000 in sales, nearly 20 million in video streaming, and around 60 million impressions the week it debuted at Number One on the Hot 100. So SIO had a lot more going for it than just big sales to help it debut at #1. Without Swift's streaming and airplay, "All About The Bass" could've moved to #1.

It's all a matter of timing, and right now, UF! is even stronger than BL was when Roar got blocked from #1 with 557K first-week sales (and a radio deal and a lyric video). SIO didn't have competition as strong as that when it debuted though. It could've sold like 350K and would still have gotten #1 with a radio deal and the music video.

Or Taylor Swift's ALBUM TRACKS could've practically been #1 hits with the right release week, and done before the pre-order effect, despite the fact the whole country aside from her fanbase wouldn't have known they existed.

So glad US doesn't do that sales only mess.
