And after seeing the video, i agree it should be on VEVO, because this video needs to seen by everyone. The respect that she would gain would be amazing. This video is beautiful.

Rihanna has never been outspoken about ANY social issue; just goes to show how out of touch she is.
I love her look in this video. The make up is stunning and I love her hair.
As for the video itself, I love the parts of her performing infront of the flag and the images shown are definitely powerful, most of them are iconic. I guess it's a good video, but we've seen this concept executed a bunch of times haven't we. Good video though.
Well... I have mixed feelings that let me skeptical.
I mean, of course, the video is really moving and very powerful (how can you think otherwise when you see historic images like that). In the meantime, it's a little awkward when Rihanna sing "Chasing the American dream" with footages of the Twin Towers falling down, like I get the overall message of the video; of course it shows that America is not all about the glory and horrible things happened there and still happen today but at the same time everything seems possible, you can achieve your dream if you believe in it and if you work for it, and that's the truth and that's a beautiful message.
But I'm sorry to be doubtful and maybe I'm wrong (I kinda hope I'm wrong about that) but I just find it weird that suddenly Rih makes a sort of political video when we never really heard her talking about social issues (correct me if I'm wrong), she's not this kind of artist (absolutely nothing wrong with that obvs)... I don't know, I just find it a bit weird how she suddenly wants to be taken seriously to the point of making a video like that.
Having said that, the video makes me appreciate the song a lot more, seems less repetitive and long and if it's really genuine, then kudos to her and her team. This era is already a lot more interesting musically speaking (and even visually) than her two previous eras anyway, which is a good thing.
Exactly right. It's a message aimed squarely at the heart of America, the people who uncritically praise patriotism without opening their eyes to what's really going on in this country. You're gonna sing along to this song just because it says the word "America" a ton? Well, that's fine, but here, have look at all of the things you're praising. You can't move forward until you recognize what's been going on our entire history. There are a lot of ugly things that have happened in this country and pretending they don't exist does nobody any good. If we really are to come together and make a "new America" we need to understand and learn from our past. It's the only way.
This is a great example of the subversive potential of pop music. I love when artists bother to try like this.

I agree, it's a very beautiful and thought-provoking song and video. It's just sad how artists can't try and touch on real life social issues in their music without being accused of being insincere.
