I actually remember reading on a forum years ago he was supposedly homophobic.
Like he was really religious, and performed @ a Gay Club one night so someone asked him if he was gay and he said "Haha y'all don't have to worry about anything like that" or something shady.
Here it goes.

Someone won't be joining Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken in the American Idol gay runners-up club anytime soon.
David Archuleta—you know, the second banana to David Cook from season seven—may have visited a gay club in New York Saturday night, but that has nothing to do with his actual sexual preference. If you must know, it was all about supporting a friend.
"Hey guys just wanted to clear something up real quick lol. Last night in New York I got invited to go and see my friend Charice perform," the 19-year-old tweeted on Sunday. "Mental note to self: always ask where before you go! Wasn't my kind of place lol, and I had no clue! I guess you live and learn…Hope that clears things up!"
"Been seeing some of the tweets. sheesh! Can get crazy quick," he said. "NO worries all, I wouldn't get into things like that intentionally haha…Charice is great and she didn't mean to do cause any harm haha. She apologized a lot after."
Alright to clear up some confusion for some of you homos, as someone who lives in Utah (unfortunately) the center of Mormon world, he's quoting one of the highest members of the church in the church's conference this past weekend where the main "theme" was basically protecting traditional families; basically only being able to be in love while in marriage between 1 man and 1 woman while popping out kids until you can't do it anymore. So yes, he is against gays if he's supporting any of this because basically the entire message of the conference was that if you want to love any way other than the way the church allows you're going against god.
Utah seems like some strange foreign country, I want to visit.

As long as you don't talk to 75% of the population its fine. And SLC is actually really normal, but the further south you go the worse it gets. And driving around on a Sunday is like a ghosttown and most businesses are closed
