There is nothing finely tuned about Judas' production. It sounds loud, noisy, and frantic; even though it kinda works for it. Judas sounds like what I imagine getting swept up by a tornado would sound like.

Tbh many friends of mine stopped liking Gaga beginning with the BTW single release. My best friend for example couldn't stop talking about how ugly she had become whenever Gaga was mentioned. Then she stop listening completely. Also a big factor is the overexposure both done by herself and her team AND her fans. I've had multiple people tell me how they used to like Gaga before I started spamming her music all day long (BTW era, coincidentally), and that then they grew tired of her.

A part of me believes that the ARTPOP (mini-)era made people more sympathetic towards her, since she stopped being shoved down their throat, and I do believe that will pay of long-term even if LG5 fails to spark the interest we want it to spark.

The idea that people complained about Gaga's ugliness during the BTW era proves a point that was ironic and unintentional, given that it was supposed to be campaign all about celebrating all types of beauty and accepting them. I never take people seriously when they go out of their way to say something is unattractive in a rude way because it shows that they're extremely shallow. We live in a world that has narrow standards for what is acceptable behavior and appearance, so the fact that Gaga didn't make the entire world's genitals tickle in 2011 isn't her fault - it's the world's fault. All they could have done was use her music and jerked off to Katy's boobs or Bey's ass.

She had plenty of "ugly" looks during The Fame and The Fame Monster but people didn't care because they liked the music. That's all there is to it, the music. The music on Born This Way was good but it wasn't what the public wanted. That's what caused her "downfall".

She looked messy on many occasions during TF but during BTW she looked messy/evil/ugly for 90% of the era including the Music Videos which is what the gp sees. My friend for example didn't know about Gaga's ugly looks because they were used for a few performances or events/candids. The ugliness was never included in her videos up until BTW & TEOG.

TFM had a dark undertone up until Alejandro, then and mostly during BTW era that darkness became way too prominent.
