Does the gay community really think it's that shocking that Christians are rallying together to help this family? Do you think you can just target any shop you want with hate and close it down? You can never win fighting like this there are way too many Christians and way too few of you.

Your thought process is really interesting, and you make a good point. I admire your pragmatism - it's hard for me to remain so clear headed where my rights are involved. Logically speaking, I agree that the gay community handled this poorly and we were rewarded accordingly. At first I couldn't look past my morals to see what actually happened. And morally speaking, the gay community was coming from the right place.
I sometimes wish it were possible to really unite the gay community so we could choose our battles more wisely, to avoid mess like this. Whenever we try to boycott a business for being homophobic, they seem to match us 2:1 with support from conservatives and Christians. Mind you, it's not for nothing - we've made rapid progress over the past decade, even if it has been rough around the edges.
