People don't want club bangers and videos like poker face or bad romance from Gaga anymore. It's tired and done. Her Oscars melody shows what people really want to see from her. Stripped back image with nice clean looks and soft or "real" music where her voice takes the lead.

I agree completely.

The Fame and The Fame Monster were good, but they're in the past, and they're staying there. Gaga shouldn't return to straight dancepop. It's a recipe for commercial failure.

What everyone wants of her is stripped-back and natural.

Gaga got famous because of Just Dance, Poker Face and Bad Romance. The young generation is the one who buys songs. Just because the Oscars performance happened do you really think that she will sell millions with 'real' music?. IMO if Gaga doesnt have a real club banger on the next album she will flop again.

I am not looking back tho. Poker Face's video has that cool factor, you know.. and if she has a good song with this kind of video( not the same wigs etc...) she will be fine. And nobody said her to replicate her early career.

21 had Rolling In The Deep and Someone Like You which were liked by everyone- young and old.

I think she's doing a pop-rock album. She's been so quiet. By that time we already have hints about the album, some songs and definitely details about the album's direction.

Same. I think it's mostly going to be pop/rock with some dance elements and influences from all different kinds of music. Which is cool.

edit: she doesn't really need a club banger. Just something that's really good, has a nice groove. Actually she could come out with something really different, it just has to SOUND right.

I know for a fact that some people really want another great dance pop album, but idk. I just feel like it might be that you guys are holding onto that specific sound for her. Redoing those sounds are not going to help her. Especially when those sounds are severely dated at the present moment.

The thing is, I feel like Gaga going full on pop would feel unbelievable now time passed. She shaded it (and the politics of that field) a few times, she did jazz now and a classic (in a medley form). Seeing Gaga doing a pop album while there are younger acts that gladly took that spot would make it unbelievable. She is not that sassy 22 year old anymore which she pulled off cause it was her big break and she had a hunger to still, we got Ariana now for that. She is 29 now and gonna look for sound that will reflect her musicianship and be credible at the same time. If it´s not credible nobody will buy it off you, goes for any public function.

Things we don't know:

- What sound is going to be "hot" a year from now.
- What people want from Gaga (we don't even know what we want).

Things we do know:

- The general public is incredibly fickle.
- Gaga's no longer chasing after success.
- Expecting big dancer bangers designed for radio and the charts is delusional and unrealistic.

We're just gonna have to wait and see.

It's worth remembering that exchanging synths for guitars doesn't automatically mean the end product won't be a pop anthem. If anything, it'll make it easier to create an a timeless classic because it won't need to be as on-trend. Plus, the appeal will be more universal.

Lady Gaga delivering a big, bombastic pop/rock anthem next would get played on AC radio following C2C/Oscar ventures, and get played in the clubs/bars (providing it's mid tempo and up). That's what she needs. A universal hit. Something that will get her pop fans excited, be radio bait, cross-genres, impress doubters, and intrigue those who weren't into/went off the dance/pop.

Don't get me wrong, disco beats or whatever could work into this...but doing anyyyyyyything like "the old Gaga" would be a major misfire. Listening to those requests arguably derailed ARTPOP.
