Yes, I am a Pitchfork ass kisser, but hey... I also included and referenced Metacritic the most, which includes a variety of other critics.

To answer your second statement, yes you are correct, but for an artist to be rated so high, the source of the music comes from them, and/or delivery. For example, Kanye can have a white producer, but the direction of the music is still fom him. But, Aretha may have had a white producer and no contribution to the track whatsoever, but her vocal delivery brought it to amazing heights - that no other artist could achieve.
