Right? ATRL is really weird when it comes to too little/too much commercial success. Like they'll badger artists if they don't do really well on the charts but they also flip out when a song becomes so successful that it overshadows everything else and call it generic. Now that Mariah is back with Sony what do you think this means for the future?.

I think the only reason it took so long for her to come back was due to the previous history and bad memories.

Same with Happy and Sam Smiths success. The blatant bias is really weird.

Pharell, Sam Smith and Bruno are visually boring and not much of celebrities. They have awful-mediocre videos, they don't have any sense of style, and they don't really do much then sing on stage. The majority of this site dislikes Adele as well because she's the same.

The people on this sight honestly just want want Troops of backup dancers, cool hairstyles, awesome videos, sexyness, catchy pop hits etc. If a male pop star comes along that fits those quality they would definitely stan.

Also Pharell is one of the worst vocalists in pop (has he EVER hit a right note?_ and he can't dance either so it's justified in my opinion.

I've always felt like they have a lot of parallels anyways, so I'm not surprised he is the one doing it. Both are two of my favorite artists at the end of the day

That's the irony of it all.

Mariah is DONE commercially. IMO, she is not coming back, at least not like she did with Emancipation. I think she can have a nice Barbra Streisand-esque career if she re-brands her image and starts respecting her legacy. She obviously wants success but she has to realize that ageism is a real factor and the public's perception of her is not good at all. I know that music is her passion and I want her to keep on releasing but she has to be realistic.

Sony/Epic is a good place for her, it's not like they can further damage her commercial career. I'm honestly more concerned about the quality of her music, which has been delivering.

But that's the beauty of music it comes in all different styles. Not every song has to be a top 40 pop hit. That seems to be a problem with the majority on this site and what they deem superior.

I don't understand this comparison considering all males gay and straight seem to get criticized for different reasons than the female counterparts. The mass amount of salt when Sam won when they felt it should have been their female faves.

Ehhh...Idk. I feel like if she wants to walk around like that she can, honestly I just need the music to be on point. She's proven to me she can do that regardless how her voice sounds, so no excuses.

I do feel like she's squandered her chances time and time again though. People were really ready for her in 2012, and she didn't deliver in the slightest.
