Somedays I think this is better than Butterfly. There, I've said it.
Mariah at her most raw, unvarnished, unhurried, vulnerable. Arguably pop's first pre-divorce album? Lyrically, I don't think she's ever been more exposed. Just a remarkable work.
MIAMTEC is her ultimate comeback in terms of quality. TEOM was a huge commercial return, but I never thought Charm was a bad album, so MIAM is technically the only time when Mariah needed to return to making good music imo and she did
It's also her most cohesive album since Charmbracelet

When i first heard it I said it felt like a more mature sequel to Butterfly.
Certainly her best album as of late.
Now let's take a moment to appreciate the best song of Mariah's 25 year career.
*plays #Beautiful intro on my guitar* *Sissy joins in with "Ah, ah, you're beautiful!"*
While I lurked on ATRL for a bit before registration opened, when I finally joined, I was excited to have people to share special MC moments with (since none of my IRL friends use her). Well, Triumphant was NOT that moment But then #B came out, and it was such a lovely experience to be here with my fellow lambs to appreciate this song together, truly a #1 that got away.
From the stunning harmonies with Miguel, to the entrancing guitar riff, to how gorgeous MC looked in the video, #B is a perfect 10/10 song that will always hold a special place in my heart. I'll never forget reading the reviews the day it came out and seeing everyone praise it, or seeing MC perform it live at the Today Show concert I went to, or watching it enter the Top 20 on Billboard, ending her streak of 8 singles that didn't get anywhere close to the top 20
So this post is dedicated to the song that, no matter where I am when I listen to it, transports me to a summery day, cruising down the highway with my weave blowing in the wind. Remember my fellow lambs, that you (almost) all are beautiful to me, to me.

I do believe MIAM is her most compelling and believable album to date. Her other greatest works Butterfly, Daydream, and Emotions are possibly better in terms of enjoyable music, but MIAM is Mariah at her most artistic and relatable imo.
I feel like it's Mariah at her truest. The title is so fitting. "Me. I Am Mariah"... and it shows Mariah's personality perfectly. When I first listened to this album my exact thought was "Wow, this album is a dedication to herself. And at this point in her life and career, it was absolutely necessary." It's such a journey. It's so true to Mariah and offers something new and fresh also.
One song in particular I am glad for is "Meteorite". Other favourites of mine are "You're Mine (Eternal)", "Dedicated" and "Camouflage". There honestly isn't one bad song. There's so many emotions as well. Obviously it frustrated all of us while we were waiting for this album, but evidently it was worth it because it's sheer perfection and you just know Mariah took care of every. single. last. little. detail to make it just right. The sequencing of the album is also my favourite of any Mariah album. It is so well thought-out and I understand why it is the way it is. It's clear she had a "vision".
There's so many reasons this is my favourite album.

This album is a reflection of some of the peaks and values that have made me who I am today I've decided to share it with those of you who actually care and have been here for me through it all.

Yess
Triumphant didn't give me the greatest vibes but it wasn't devastating.
Almost Home was solid and kept me excited.
Then #Beautiful came. Remember that teaser videos with her giggling and those guitar chords? We all freaked out cuz of how different it sounded.
I remember the day the song was released I sat in a park by my school with some friends and I listened to it on my phone and I couldn't believe it was really her song until I got home and played it on repeat the whole day. Ugh
And then the remix for #Beautiful with the new vocals that was kinda a Fantasy throwback
And then Mariah's injury and that audio to the fans that included the dance remix of #Beautiful that I'm still waiting for you dumb hoe.
And then the TAOLG listening party and the video teaser that included the orchestra backing for Make it Look Good with her whistling over it that had me SALIVATING woo lord everything about this album was a journey and it was so worth it.
