Clearly, as Marlene said, Mona really is dead and we saw her corpse. In the finale, the person we see is not Mona, but her identical twin: Big A, thus the "Big A reveal". They neither tell us in the episode that that's Big A nor that it's not Mona. But they show it nevertheless. Remember they weren't going to blatantly reveal Big A until 610. We were supposed to figure it out ourselves from this episode.

It's just their theory. It doesn't make any sense considering the twins are blonde and Big A links back to Bethany and Marion, but it's a nice perspective!
