That's if it even gets nominated for AOTY. Voodoo was a predicted contender but was relegated to R&B Album, where it won.

I don't see Messiah in Urban Contemporary. It's an R&B Album through and through.

It'll probably be submitted to R&B Album and win there. Black Messiah getting the AOTY nod is its biggest hurdle

Considering how they are doing that category lately the only POP albums that get in is by mainstream artists like Pharrell and Rihanna otherwise its just R&B albums that aren't traditional R&B.

But regardless whichever genre it gets in, it will win. And will likely show up in AOTY. I just don't see them giving Taylor a 2nd AOTY win again so soon. But its the Grammys and she white and outsells everyone so i wouldn't put it pass them.

If they can give Beck a nomination and award, then D'Angelo should definitely be up for it. They just don't treat urban music well unless it's a huge success.
