Rihanna has finally heard what everyone has been saying about her for years. She knows she makes a lot of quick smash hits that really do not comprise a body of work or truly reflect who she is as an artist. She says she is going to do the opposite with this album, and I'm all for it.

Rihanna is not an artist though, just a recording artist. I think we all expect too much out of the girl.

I like what she said but so far, #R8 does not sound like anything she is describing.

Rihanna's a vocalist at least. Even if she doesn't write her songs, I'll hope that she can interpret her songs uniquely. I think "Four Five Seconds" was really... ...real. She sang that bridge pretty well - not in the technical sense, of course not, but I mean she had plenty of feeling.

She is no one's vocalist Rihanna is Rihanna. She's not particularly gifted in anything but she makes it all work. The only skill I would attribute to Rihanna is her ear for good music (at the very least good singles). As for her interpretation, she sings the songs the exact same way they were recorded for her in the demos by the writers. Case in point:

Well, ****, after 7 eras and 7 albums, I'm hoping she can show a little artistry and put together a cohesive body of work.

She's not getting an A for effort from me, tho. She's gonna have to come hard with this album cuz the other **** that we've heard so far just ain't it.
