Cinderella is good. Strong performances, gorgeous costumes (especially Blanchett's), beautiful sets, good direction. All the little pieces are good...but the whole is not as good as those pieces. And that's because those pieces are used to tell a story we all know, exactly as we know it. All the great care and effort put into this beautiful production feels kind of unnecessary.
The tone and feel of the movie reminded me of A Little Princess, so that's a plus.
I would give it a B-.
