In UKMix Chart Analysis Forum, everyone is freaking out because of how commercially successful 1989 era is worldwide compared to all the other recent albums. and how this success is continuing with Style reaching no. 6 on Hot 100, without any televised performance for 3 months. And I come here, and some folks are acting as if 1989 is her least successful instead of her best this decade, and the best era since 21. The contrast is jarring.
The vast majority of artists cannot get a Top 10 hit ever but accept that because getting a hit is hard, and here people are seemingly jumping out of windows because Taylor is seemingly not going to get 3 consecutive no 1's, even though she has never done that before. Such a reaction is lacking in perspective, both in terms of Taylor's previous chart performance and also the chart success of others relative to 1989.
