oh my god, i'm sorry but why are you being so SLOW right now. i'm addressing you but also everyone else still freaking out about this
1) this is a "new" America, indicating that it is DIFFERENT from the America of the past. if your country doesn't like America, wouldn't a new version presumably be better? i mean really?
2) while i don't doubt that there's plenty of anti-American sentiment in the EU, it's hard for me to believe everyone will be "repulsed" by the song because you are the biggest drama queen i know. will the title make them hesitant? probably, but once they hear the song it'll be fine
3) i am very anti-patriotism and when i saw the title on ATRL i was ready to drag her. but after hearing the snippet my worries ceased because it's not like "American oxygen, only the best breathe this" but it's more of a metaphor. like idk how many times i can explain it
4) idk why people keep saying rih isn't American, like there's no way sis doesn't hold dual citzenship here but okay
for all we know she's singing about a better version of America that she dreams of. like let's wait before be get upset
