Cultural appropriation becomes problematic when someone takes the most stereotypical and negative aspects of the culture for personal gain. Yes, I find Miley's sudden love for twerking and hanging around "ghetto" blacks more problematic than Justin Timberlake singing R&B music or Katy wearing a piece of Japanese clothing she admired.
