Idk, there's certain times where it's appropriate and certain times where it's just whinging

In general though, line distribution could be such a great thing but producers or whoever decide who sings what **** it up a lot of the time. Like, the whole point of a group is to have different timbres combined to get a more interesting sound than somebody singing alone. Kind of defeats the purpose when, like...SNSD becomes Taeyeon feat. Tiffany or Sistar is Hyorin feat. nobody but hey Soyu is there. Their music really doesn't need to be that way, and it would sound a whole lot better if it weren't. Or if who sings in a group wasn't determined by popularity in general.

Kiiiii. That reminds me of the time when someone on onehallyu was talking about SISTAR's line distributions, and that Hyorin should give some of her lines to Dasom. I was like

Most of the best K-pop group songs have pretty good line distribution.

I hate using Genie as an example because I feel it's used a lot but I felt that was PERFECT for that era. Even though Seohyun didn't have any solo lines.

Speaking of 5H (since it kind of relates to groups as a whole) I never got the point of putting more than two vocalists of outstanding singing caliber in a POP group. I read this on an article about vocals in Kpop and I think it's true: in pop music, vocal showboating and grandstanding isn't necessary most of the time. There's no reason to have that many theatrics in a song. (Which is why I hate Sixth Sense) Less is more, work with what you got, all that jazz.

Going along with that, I'd say Hyorin's finest moment in SISTAR isn't any of the high notes she hits in their songs, it's that little growl she adds in the second verse of Alone. (You know what I'm talking about from that simple description, probably. That's how good it is!)

So true. That's why the PCD works, because it's only Nicole Scherzinger singing (with some random shrieking by Melody). Although they all hated each other in the end, their music was flawless

Right? It's so unique, BEG's "Sixth Sense" is like the only non-SM song I can think of that's even remotely similar to SMP. My love for k-pop was cemented with SMP, I really appreciate just how far they go with the massive production and creating music you can't really find anywhere else.
