The newest animated film by Dreamworks offers an original story, full of laughs and an upbeat soundtrack, Home is appropriate for audiences of all ages. The story focuses on the Boov, a population of adorable aliens whose main virtue is running away from trouble. In an attempt to escape their dangerous enemy, they decide to invade the Earth, relocating all its humans, and turning it into their new home.
The story is fast-paced and the characters are engaging; Home is genuinely funny, the kind of humour that can be appreciated by people of all ages. From from the entertaining manner with which the Boov speak English, to their hilarious dance moves, this is the kind of film that makes for flawless family entertainment.
As is often the way with Dreamworks, plenty of popular actors lend their voices for this film. Oh is voiced by The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons, while Tip is voiced by Rihanna. Tip’s mother, Lucy, owes her voice to Jennifer Lopez, while Captain Smek – the Boov leader – has borrowed both Steve Martin’s voice and his impeccable comic timing. As for the soundtrack, it is not the kind of original music that you get when you see a Disney film, on the contrary, it consists of mostly pop music, including some famous Rihanna tracks.
All in all, the film doesn’t take itself too seriously, and will put a smile on any face. Home is an extremely good choice for light-hearted entertainment
