Good. It would flop.
I think the singles will go like this:
1) HBS
2) Invincible
3) RRR
End of era.

I could see Dance With Me's video being very upbeat like Happy.
Bring in the choir for the bridge part, being in some kids, everyone.

Nah, call her famous friends and have them dance like idiots. It would go viral.
Blake Shelton
Miranda Lambert
Haley Williams
Reba
Adam Levine
John Legend/Chrissy Teigen
Jimmy Fallon
etc etc

I like it, it's by far my least favorite on the standard edition, though. The only track I like less is Second Wind. SW is the only track on the whole album that I genuinely dislike.

Piece by Piece remains the masterpiece of the album. Nothing else comes close.

I hope the long promised Country Album comes this fall. I already need new Kelly music. I feel like the wait for about 3/4 of this album wasn't worth it. I am a flop stan :\

Pretty much the safest bet. If RRR or Invincible become hits, I could see PBP becoming the fourth single and closing out the era. RCA doesn't like to continue an era after even one single flops

She needs to nab Luke Bryan for a duet for the lead single. It would debut higher than PBP then

If Invincible and RRR both have chart success they should release War Paint as well!

So I've listened to the album, and it has grown on me. It's not as immediate as "Stronger" or any of her previous albums, but it's a departure for Kelly and she's taken risks. This is my review for each song:
1. "Heartbeat Song" - 7/10; It's catchy enough, but it surprises me the label thought this was a strong enough track to lead the album. It's a good second single, but it's not strong enough to carry the album -- as evidenced by her opening week sales.
2. "Invincible" - 7.5/10; This grew on me a bit, but some of the lyrics are just awful ("No, I'm not a scared little girl no more"). I honestly do not know how this will perform. It's a song that can smash, flop, or perform similarly to HBS.
3. "Someone" - 8/10; I really like this one. I almost wish she tailored the lyrics about someone she was in love with as the chorus is just perfect. It would be a go-to love song, and I can see it being played at a lot of weddings. But it's certainly not bad the way it currently is. It has a great melody, and I wouldn't mind seeing this as a single later on down the road.
4. "Take You High" - 8.5/10; I love the chorus, it's so different for Kelly, and so different from what's already out there. It takes a trend and just flips it. I wish the verses hit a bit harder though as I'm worried the long buildup the chorus would make the GP dislike the song a bit. Either way, it should be a single just to show that Kelly is even more versatile.
5. "Piece by Piece" - 9/10; Just perfection. It's such a sweet continuation to BOY, and would be a good closing single for the album. It just shows she's come full circle, and the melody in the song cannot be beat.
6. "Run Run Run" (feat. John Legend) - 8/10; Beautiful vocals, even if it's a bit on the boring side. I'm not sure how I feel about this being an eventual single, but a grammy performance would be outstanding! It's a nice track, and I can see it doing somewhat well.
7. "I Had A Dream" - 6/10; I don't even remember how this song goes in comparison to the others. It's forgettable, and a complete filler. I can appreciate what she was trying to do here, but it didn't work for me.
8. "Let Your Tears Fall" - 6/10; The Avril stan that liked this song made me realize why, it would be something that Avril could release. It's underwhelming, and just not as catchy as some people make it out to be. Throwaway at best.
9. "Tightrope" - 7/10; Boring. Vocals are on point, but wow, so boring. Next.
10. "War Paint" - 9.5/10; Pure, pop perfection. This song can potentially be her biggest hit off the album (depending on reception to TYH). It's catchy, synthy, and reminds me of Hilary Duff's "Come Clean" mixed with Selena Gomez' "Naturally" with a bit of Florence and the Machine thrown in the bridge. it's a fun track, and should be released as a single.
11. "Dance With Me" - 6/10; I appreciate the mood of this song, but it just falls flat. It sounds like someone super old trying to relate with the newer generation. It's not catchy at all, and would definitely flop if released.
12. "Nostalgic" - 7/10; I don't understand the hype around this track. It's a reductive version of the far superior "Alone". It has a great pre-chorus, but the chorus and verses just crash and burn for me. Not catchy at all, and it tried so hard to be 80's sounding that it DOES sound like a track from the 80's without the modern flare that songs like "You Love Me" and "Alone" have. Skip.
13. "Good Goes The Bye" - 9/10; I love this song. The lyrics are great, her vocal tone is great, and I just think it would be a cute single to release. It does give me a "Breakaway" vibe, and I can see this being released in the UK or another region and doing well. She should consider making a country version of this song (like the demo) and releasing it on country radio. Really cute song.
14. "Bad Reputation" - 8.5/10; YES. This is a great song. Her vocals are amazing, and the tone of the song is incredible. I almost want her to release this, and have it smash on Urban radio as well. So good. This is what we want, versatility on an album!
15. "In the Blue" - 7.5/10; It's a cute song. Nothing special about it.
16. "Second Wind" - 7.5/10; Nothing special. Just there.
Overall: 7/10; It's a good album and I appreciate the risks she took, and some of them did pay off. One thing that can be said about this album is there are no copycat versions of previous songs. I don't see a SUBG 8.0 or a BTHE 3.0, it's all very original, I appreciate that. Unfortunately, there are too many fillers or blah tracks that prevent me from giving this album a great score. Good effort overall.
