Maybe some stations sneak in a few plays during the after hours time period (10-6) so the stations don't get in trouble

My favorite Country Song and favorite song overall for 2014 was "Play It Again" by Luke Bryan, which is why everyone saw me bitch constantly about Bryan's label not going for a crossover it had in the bag. My second favorite song was Seether's "Words As Weapons", an Active Rock track few of you have heard.
I just did a commentary about how Country Radio doesn't pay attention to how well songs are selling, streaming, and performing on call-out scores when choosing how much to play a song. Darius Rucker's "Wagon Wheel" in 2013 and Sam Hunt's "Take Your Time" are prime examples of songs that are selling and streaming well, and have great call out scores, but are still ranked way behind songs that are selling less, streaming less, and perform more poorly on call out scores.
Something at Country radio needs to change, where the biggest songs with great sales/streaming/call out numbers rise faster, stay longer at Number One, and fall more slowly. Billboard needs to change its recurrency rule back to the Top 15 instead of the Top 10, since songs aren't falling as slow as they did ten years ago. I have emailed Wade Jessen before, and he has emailed me back directly. I'll ask him about the BB recurrency rule, tell him about the blog I was doing (and need to restart), and get his opinion as to why radio won't move songs up the charts faster that listeners obviously want to hear.

I wish country artists would push songs to pop with songs that have crossover appeal so that the genre could have a wider reach.

You must have missed my posts bitching about PIA too
Take You Time is flying up the country charts, which is a surprise since he is still a new artist
Hmm, I still see songs falling after they peak on country radio and get the boot off the charts 2 weeks later. i don't think that will ever change, but it would be nice to have 5 week #1's again NYN came out so long ago

I wonder who makes the call on that decision to crossover. I swear the only artists that have tried to crossover in recent years from country radio is Hunter Hayes and FGL (successfully)
PIA as brian stated could have gone further on HAC, but idk if that was Luke's decision not to have it go onto Hot AC radio or his label
