Hitflix: Best & Worst of the 2015 Oscars
Best: Julianne Moore's moment
After earlier nominations for "Far From Heaven," "The Hours," "The End of the Affair" and "Boogie Nights," Julianne Moore was just an actress in search of the right movie to end her Oscar drought. [And that's leaving out things like "Maps to the Stars" and "Safe" and "The Kids are All Right" that could have earned her Oscar nods, but didn't.] So yes, it was something of a foregone conclusion from the second "Still Alice" premiered that Moore wouldn't be Oscarless for long. But even knowing this was coming, Moore was charming and grateful for the entire season of wins and people seemed to like cheering for her. Sunday's speech, complete with Alzheimer's awareness advocacy and a joke about her younger husband, was a fine capper to this run.
