Why are we talking about it being a flop by Taylor's standard when most of her singles have been flops other than Love Story, You Belong With Me, Mine, WANEGB, IKYWT, SIO and Blank Space....that's not the majority of her singles.....sure the others were country (except 22) but they're still flops
What? Blank Space is still all over the place. Style isn't good enough of a song to cut BS's reign short so the team compromised and released it later. Also, the video premiered at a good time. Doesn't it get additional exposure before every showing of the 50 Shades movie?
With all this promo, the song was never destined to flop. Maybe not a #1 smash but certainly a hit song, sadly.
It's a hit, as it technically has been since it hit the Billboard Hot 100 top forty. But when you look at Taylor's previous two singles and peoples' expectations of this song, it could be considered an underperformance, regardless of its decent success.
Anyone who calls it a flop is stupid. Just because it's not Blank Space or Shake it Off does not mean it's a flop. Sorry it couldn't meet your 6 week at No.1 standards It hasn't even peaked yet either, it's almost guaranteed to top Radio Songs with its 3M AI updates. ATRL needs to have several seats.
Judas made Top 10 and all of you still consider it a flop.
Russian Roulette made Top 10 and how many of you see that as a bonafied hit single?
Judas lacked airplay, spent one week in the Top 10 and less than 20 in the Top 100, and hasn't scanned platinum. A Judas comparison is not applicable to a song that's been in the Top 10 on digital and radio songs for more than a week, or even reached that threshold. This is coming from a Gaga stan too

I'm not saying it is or isn't a flop, im just saying people are inconsistent. I've seen plenty of arguments from pop stans on this website that argue We R Who We R is a bonafied hit single even though it only spent 1 week in the top 10 as well. Should that not then be considered a flop as well? I mean no one is consistent, people just tailor arguments to suit whatever they want it to.

We R Who We R spent 14 weeks in the top 10. Style could only dream.

Don't know where you're getting that information but We R Who We R debuted at #1 and spent the next fourteen consecutive weeks in the Top 10, with the majority of that time between the 3-6 range.
Oh yes I meant number 1, typo
here come the rabid kesha fans to try and call me an idiot.
Except nobody's rabid or calling you an idiot. You did however incorrectly bring We R Who We R's hit status into question based on a false argument. A #1 debuting, 14 week Top 10 hit isn't comparable to a (so far) 1 week #10 peaking song.
