Watching The Sixties mini-series on CNN and they're talking about how gays were treated. There were a lot of gay men who were closeted who wouldn't come out because they feared that they would be ostracized, fired from their jobs/being unable to find one, etc. They considered homosexuality a mental illness back then.
They were also talking about the Civil Rights movement, the environmental movement, and the feminist movement. What a progressive decade, tbh.
