It is catchy, it's relatable, it's GOOD, it's by Rihanna. It was gonna get played on radio anyways, and only people on the POP forum ATRL are not satisfied with this change of Rihanna. The rest of the Earth, as we see, is very positive about this change and ofc they will be. And we had another this type of songs as huge hits. So this wasn't a risk at all from the beggining and Rihanna knew it.
Now looking forward to that #1.(not that it's such a big deal tho)

I disagree, This was most certainly a risk. All the reviews picked up on it sounding like nothing she's ever done before. Her own fans weren't being supportive, people wanted another pop or urban song. Tbh had she not killed her grammy performance who knows how the GP would've continued to respond to the song.
