Debut numbers mean nothing if you're front loaded(Born This Way, Femme Fatale), and end up selling more in the long run anyway.

Katy got the Superbowl but Rih was more of a highlight at the Grammy's by far

Roar is far from forgotten. It was recently performed at the superbowl. You can try again in a year perhaps. Besides its not like Rihanna has a huge catalog of remembered hits. She's had literally zero impact with her music, I mean the fact that she opened the VMA twice and no one even remembers lol.



Cause she's released 7 (going on 8 albums) as well as 1 billion features


Selling a lot in the long wrong is better of course, but first week sales represent the fans, and clearly Rihanna doesn't have a lot
