Taylor didn't need Spotify for BS to stay at the top of the Hot 100 for seven weeks. I think some people will just use Rihanna's official video as an outlet for streaming as they did with BS.

Blank Space was #1 because her airplay was massive and she basically had no competition, I mean... didn't she replace herself?
Riri is only #23 on radio and has Bruno and Ed as competition, both massive.
It's a complete different scenario and it's stupid to compare it with BS's.

I agree. But from my personal experience, when a song isn't on Spotify I tend to listen to it a lot less because when I'm browsing Spotify I'm never reminded of it (this might seem irrelevant but I use Spotify for 100% of my music so it makes a difference). BS is a classic example. My last.fm shows that I have played it 25 times or so. However, I've played SIO in excess of 65 because it was on Spotify. I guess the fact that a song is just there (on Spotify) makes me more likely to play it.
Is Doing It by Charli XCX doing okay cause I'm not sure if it's been released yet in the States for radio but since it has a music video I hope it's top 200 by now
Rihanna better go #1!, to prove all the haters wrong, and to prove that with the right song and the right promo you don't need spotify
Style music video coming in 3 days
By that moment it would be top 10 again, I hope the video is great so it can go top 5 with the effect
Hopefully it has a similar effect to Blank Space, but I don't see that happening
if Taylor wants that #1 for "style" she should have a performance (or two) the next week after the video premiere (around 17th and 18th) to make the combo of streaming + good airplay + good sales... I hope she has something prepared...

She has SNL the 15th and is rumored to be performing as well.
A performance at the Brit Awards , could mean, shall I say, a Massacre? *giggles hysterically*
That would be amazing.
Anyway guys remember when Beyonce's "Drunk In Love" went number 2 with only being 7 on Top Digital and 14 on Top Radio? Her post grammy streams were huge.
Maybe Rihanna has a chance for number 1 or 2 this week and we don't even know about it! + FFS video is recent!

Rih lacks the radio support to go #1 and TOL and UF are major on streaming. UF would have to keep falling hard for TOL to even get a shot at #1, though that's looking more and more possible. Rih's sales are lower than TOL's because it has a second version (as does UF) and she doesn't have the streaming or airplay. #3 seems to be on lock, though.

Actualy BS went no 1 because it had massive SALES! For it's first 10 weeks it sold an average of 280k every week in the US. It had multiple weeks selling more than 300k and even one week selling more than 500k.
Rihanna's song has been selling only about 150k or so weekly so far, albeit without estimates for this week post-Grammys. It's not about competition, it's sales levels. Rihanna's song has been selling less than half of what Blank Space was selling when it went to no 1. That is why you cannot compare the two songs. Rihanna doing performances obviously will help boost the sales, but a boost was clearly needed.
