I love how the hive are trying to play the race care like beyonce doesn't have 20 grammys lmao. if they thought her album deserved AOTY, she would have won. let it to
The majority of Beyoncé's 20 awards come from categories that award "black" music though.
When was the last time a black artist won AOTY?
I don't think this is about race, but I also don't think the reasons you are saying it's not are really that valid, and it's always easier to deny racism than to accept that it exists.
Why are you talking about single's sales when we are talking about albums?
And I don't think sales have anything to do with this, but you can't belittle Beyoncé's sales and not even bring up Beck's. What are Beck's single sales? Which artist did the GP seem to prefer, using your own basis of discovery: singles sales?
I was responding to Kisuke's comment on sales and GP support of BEYONCE. Weren't you the one who said I shouldn't take comments out of context? Why are you playing the dunce right now?
And Beck was not brought up hence why no commentary was made on them.

In 2008 when Herbie Hancock won, and people still complained about that because Amy Winehouse - a white woman - lost.
I love Bey and think that she should have won based on quality, but the race card cannot be used randomly or when the Hive sees fit.
1. Beck beats Beyoncé for album of the year: Beck seems like a pretty nice guy and Morning Phase is a pretty nice album, but the Grammys made an awkward, out-of-touch decision in denying Beyoncé the prize for one of the era's most influential pop albums. Aside from the WTF randomness, the decision speaks volumes to the race and gender bias present in the recording industry. Here's to hoping Beck doesn't pull a Macklemore and write Beyoncé a humble-braggy, self-serving apology letter.
All of my thoughts on this summed up so perfectly in two sentences.
Race doesn't always have anything to do with it, shut the **** up.
Also, 301k in the U.S for an alternative artist is AMAZING so stop bringing up sales like a ****ing idiot.
I'm black and think Morning Phase was the best album nominated, there's a lot of people who agree so get over it and stop trying to discredit his win. Pathetic ass fan base
BEYONCE was more acclaimed, sold gazillions more, was a pop culture event and left massive impact.
Beck's album was a non-factor, even if it was a solid album. Oh well.

Can you please point me to where I took your comment out of context?
Kisuke's comment may not have named Beck's but if we are comparing who has more GP support, then why would you leave out someone else? You can't claim Beyoncé's singles sales were not good if you have nothing to compare it to. It's pretty simple logic. Perhaps you are saying she should have sold 8 million. But that's another conversation completely because in case you forgot, Beck's name is the first word in the thread title. This is about Beck.

!!!! I was just writing up a post. Like it's so pick and choose with the Hive depending whether or not Beyonce was affected. Stan googles much? I'm not going to comment on who deserved the award more but to diminish Beck's award just cuz he's a "white man" chosen by "old white men" make the Hive sound out of touch, ignorant and biased themselves.

From a previous thread when you tried to drag me because I took some **** out of context.
And regardless of Beck's name being the first word in the thread, I was responding to a comment made in the thread that happened to be a different part of the topic.
Take a look at the AOTY winners over the last 30 years. Overtly sexual pop females never win. Beyoncé was NEVER going to win (she couldn't even win her own category), it's just that internet hype made people think she was the frontrunner. There's a reason Whitney and Celine have an AOTY, but Janet and Madonna don't. There's a reason that of the modern mainstream women, only Adele and Taylor Swift have won. The only way most of our faves will ever win is if they are a featured artist on an album. Let it go already
It's not about sexism, racism and all that other stuff you all keep throwing around. Not when Natalie Cole (undeservedly) won Album of the Year. If anything, you should be questioning the voters' taste or distastes for certain genres of music.

Oops ya I forgot about moment. You're right.
Still in the last 30 years only 8 winners were black. And only three were black women.
Anyway I don't think this is a race thing but like I said I don't think it's something we should necessarily dismiss completely, because obviously race is still very much an issue in the world, whether someone is explicitly bigoted or not.

Didn't know Natalie Cole released an album embracing her sexuality and spearheading the feminist movement as a modern black woman in a white and patriarchal America.
