it was a complete trainwreck this year with even more disgust afterwards. Award shows like this are just hilariously comedic. Only watched cause I didn't have to work and there was no game on.

I surely would not be expecting her to win at all. And wouldn't bother watching the show or staying tuned to the pre-telecast if she wasn't going.
Unlike Katy's fans who constantly believe she will win anything... Her grammy will come eventually, like Britney's did. I hope that by the time it comes she will be careless about it just like Britney was.
But I do remember, though, while most of us were skeptical, many stans thinking she had won Best Dance Recording for Womanizer because she showed up that year and it would be televised and ****.
It will never be too late though, Madonna's first major wins came in 15 years after her debut (more than that I think), Britney just needs to deliver a piece that is so acclaimed they cannot deny it. And of course, her team do their job correctly (like submitting to the right categories, Blackout could've easily won Best Dance/Electronic Album, and either Gimme More or Piece of Me should've been sent to Best Dance Recording, though they did do their job right by not even bothering to send Britney Jean for consideration and though nowadays she could not be nominated in Dance categories).

In the last decade Britney has received two Grammy nominations (Toxic, Womanizer) for Best Dance Recording, a category she can no longer be nominated for due to new rules. Bias aside, In the Zone was a Grammy worthy album/era. The album deserved nominations/wins, Everytime, Toxic, etc. She got one nomination. One. She'll never get the praise or acclaim she deserves unfortunately so it's best we deal with the fact that she'll never win a major Grammy and she'll probably never be nominated again.

I do hope Moroder's team send the Britney song for Best Dance Recording (a DJ/producer can score a nom). I'm sure if they see that the song is received well when it's out, they might consider releasing it as a single. That doesn't necessarily imply that there'll be a video or that it'll smash etc, but if they do release it as some point, a Grammy submission for it wouldn't be too unreasonable to assume. Especially cuz Giorgio is a respected producer and they'll definitely let one of his songs get a nom.

freaking love you. My food fell out of my mouth once his name was announced. Considering Beck was the only one I secretly hoped would win, I was not actually expecting talent to win.
The backlash was VERY expected tho. So in a way, I wish beyonce would have won that popularity contest so people would shut up. This is not a respected award anymore, it's a popularity contest. But i'm happy the academy voted on quality instead of gimmick this one time since Bon Iver's win.

I wasn't watching tho, but I was happy to know the next day. I mean, really, I prefer them ranting about having lost than what would've happened the other way around.

I really felt they decided to screw every pop girl with no powerful vocals over by not letting them submit to dance anymore. But she did get two Pop Album noms in her early years, she could perhaps really get another one. I was actually surprised the year Circus was eligible that it did not get nominated (though the competition was really tough with so many album so much more successful than it like The E.N.D., The Fame, etc). I don't care if she never gets another nom, she already is a Grammy-winning artist, this is one argument really not used against her.
As of praise and acclaim, she will surely get a lot of recognition once she dies. Acclaim from the recording academy is useless. Let's have Marilyn Monroe, she's not an Academy Award winner and she's the movie industry biggest legend/icon.

Here's the thing: Even if Britney was winning Grammys, I still wouldn't care for them. Award shows like these kind of limit creativity and show a very narrow view of what is "quality music". Who is this random ass committee to tell us what is quality or not?

Do people STILL BELIEVE this crap??? How come Celine did promo for her last album while in Vegas when Britney was starting? EVERY performer that does vegas PROMOTES it via PERFORMANCES. There is NO SUCH thing as a clause that prevents her from performing out of PH. It doesn't allow her to tour the USA, but it doesn't prevent promo.
Sometimes the Army is just....

Speaking of Celine, Britney should take notes from her. Her album was released after a long ass break and it sold 1.3M - 1.5M copies and her promo campaign lasted two months at most, kind of like the Circus era promo. She did Wetten dass for Germany, X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing for the UK and a few French shows and some US promo (Today Show, The Voice, Fallon and The View). She did do a tiny tour for the album, but they recorded it and broadcasted it on 3 European channels (France, Belgium, Switzerland) and a Canadian TV special. It sounds like a lot, but it's very manageable. She didn't even release a video for her lead single dd.
She did that during her break from Vegas shows, btw.
