I kinda agree with Surfboardt tbh. The moment she dropped the album everything seemed to be going great, but afterwards it went downhill. Almost no performances, messy single releases etc etc. And that re-release that was SO redundant imo. She could've slayed the entire game even more after the initial release, like IA..SF teas, but I guess Bey had something else in mind. Maybe letting the music and visuals speak was just the entire concept of the album which is why she didn't go all out.

So you guys who kept saying Grammy chose her performance can see that she could have performed her own music from her nominated album but instead took the shine of the woman who performs the song in Selma. And now all the other nominees have their albums top 10 on iTunes but her. She's the only one who didn't perform from her album. I said it when Bey was paying her album dust all year that she was likely to lose AOTY.

You can't promote your album better than a 16 minute performance of a medley of your album at a major music award.

Opening for the Grammys with DIL, performing another song at the Brit Awards, and a 16 minute medley of your album for the VMAs.... Add Partition at the BET Awards and I would consider that the perfect promo plan.

Random talk show appearances and interviews won't do much; it may shift 500-1,000 more copies but that's it.

My computer crashed during the ceremony, I was pissed but now that I see that she was snubbed, I'm glad I didn't stay up all night to see that.

This aside, I'm not mad, I'm disappointed sure. She deserves it the most, but how many times forgettable albums won that category over albums like Ray Of Light, The Velvet Rope, MBDTF, Back to Black, In Rainbows, Continuum, FS/LS Orange Channel etc.
What happened last night was a mess, but I think it was jinxed tbh, it was so obvious that she was supposed to win and Grammys loves stunts.
It doesn't change the fact that she made history yesterday, 20 ******* Grammys, that her album is flawless (the era was messy single/performance wise), we know she a hardworker and an artist. And I'm proud of my Queen!!!
What bothers me is that she didn't win any of the album category, Urban or AOTY. I would have rather see her win a prize for the whole than just a song
As for the performance, that was lovely, but in the back of head I couldn't help but thinking "she could have sang Superpower, or Mash it up"
I cant wait for B6 and B7 because, she keeps growing as an artist !
I'm not sure for the joint album, but it still new music so bring it on

Promo had nothing to do with the lost.and neither did "Karma" Beyonce ask too perform the song,but who's to say if it was ever going to get a performance there or not? She lost because they didn't want her to happen.that's why they also didn't give it to Sam.because they thought he was going to do what he said..so please let's not start blaming Bey...

I'm not as mad as I expected to be. I guess deep down, I was expecting this. What makes me angry is the fact that ST didn't win an album [music-wise] Grammy like wtf? How did she lose to Pharrell? His album was terrible. I'm sure everyone knows that was a "We're sorry Happy missed out on winning, here's a runner-up prize" ... and then to stick a token black category into the live telecast so she could get to do a speech to set her up for the mess that was coming later Bey handled it well tho [even if it was killing her inside] and she still came out and SLAYED. One of her best vocal performances ever!

If she ever decides to go all anti-industry after this and never go to another Grammys again, I'm okay with that. She put her heart and soul into this album. The release was innovative, an event, a risk that paid off commercially and critically and most importantly, influential. If that won't get a black woman a Grammy to end the decade+ gap between the last, idk what will. Congrats to Bey on her 3 wins tho and I'm excited to see where she goes next.

As unfortunate as it is, it just goes to show that if you want the throne crowning jewels in in the Grammy crown - you have to fight for it. Beyoncé didn't bring that fight this time, and whether it tied in with the theme of the era, or change in personal circumstance, I hope she realises that the awards were hers to lose.

Let's hope she'll do more to show the world how great her work is next time around. What's the use in alienating yourself?

The karma stuff is nonsense, I agree. The point is that Beyoncé released a brilliant body of work and didn't showcase it as well as she should have. There's no excusing that.

I don't see it that way. Sales are immaterial. What Beck's likely advantage was, was that he didn't have any competition genre wise like Beyoncé had with Pharrell and Sam Simith to a lesser extent. Beck's inclusion made him a conduit of sorts, where he would able to get a lot of alternative, rock, acoustic, country etc votes. Add in the fact that he's a veteran and him winning was always a big possibility.

So yeah, of course politics could have been a major factor in including him, but Beyoncé could have played the game better to minimise that obstacle.
