He was seen twice. First on the first episode of this season and the other scene you described was shown afer the mid-season finale at the very end.
I am not against killing main characters: it is a freaking apocalypse, It's bound to happen.
That said, Beth's death feels like a missfire to me. The fact that her character went from one dimensional to quite fledged in such little time and just before Her death made it harder to assymilate.
Also, she obviously had much room For development, which at this point handful of others (Carol included) lack.
