My mom's a huge stan, so I know his career inside and out. He started this around 2002-ish when his music stopped selling and hip-hop was being dominated by party rappers like Nelly, Ja Rule, Pharrell, and Ludacris. He started making god-awful club music from 2004-2008 that no one bought as a desperate attempt to stay relevant with the kids, (and failed miserably), and then he rekindled his relationship with his father, (who tried to kill his mother), and ever since, he's become a big cornball, especially since he keeps getting asked to host the Grammy's every single year.

It's really annoying, and he needs to go away.

The sad truth is that people who sell sex, even if they have the music, talent, performing skills, etc., to back it up, are automatically seen as inferior to bland, fully-clothed acts who don't really take risks and make easy-listening music that anyone can enjoy. There has to be a reason or message behind being edgy, then you'll be respected. When Madonna was edgy in the 80's and 90's, there was always a real message behind it, not a fake message like Lady Gaga wearing a meat dress "for the troops." If you're being "edgy" just for publicity, like Kim Kardashian or Miley Cyrus or Lady Gaga, you're always going to be looked upon as trash, of course. Examples of edgy artists today that are respected include Kanye West, Björk, and Lars von Trier.

Logic is mixed. His dad is black, and his mom is white + like all his close friends + family are black. So it's not the same situation as Iggy/Macklemore where he's some white person who started to decide he would rap and hang out with black people after watching MTV.
