Hollywood won't ever let this happen. They're incredibly racist to Asians, probably moreso than most. It's been a very long time since an Asian person has been nominated at the Oscars, despite extremely talented people, such as Ziyi Zhang or Gong Li.
There's also a live-action movie of the anime "Attack on Titan" and most of the main
characters in the series are Caucasian, but they're all being played by Asians.
That being said, this is a good role for Scarlett and I think she will fit well with the role. It's just irritating and odd when a series with Asian names and settings are strangely whitewashed.
I wouldn't have any issue if, for example, a live action Fullmetal Alchemist was played by mainly white people considering it's based on an almost alternate dimension of Germany and has characters named like "Edward" and "Alphonse."

Dye Scarlett's hair black, get her some black contacts, and some Asian stylized eyeliner...and boom: one second Scarlett's an Asian, and suddenly the Asian is Scarlett.
lol i'm really not even trying to argue that valiantly for the cause, I'll just say that every culture (particularly ones with internet) appropriates one another in some way (and if they don't have Internet who cares? because they probably don't lol)
and you're not convincing me of the other one, the 'bad guy' was the exploitive white-based corporation, the main villan was tan, but very much white (lmao the fact I even had to argue that one ) and the entire storyline is told from the perspective of the native people, affirming them as the good guys
