Gary Trust listed Teenage Dream's sales at 2.94 million through last week. Since I have seen the 2.94 number for a while, I am going to say he is at the very least not round up, and likely rounded down. Still, I will stick with exactly 2.94 million, needing 60,000 to finally reach 3 million. Prism is well behind at 1.56 million, while One Of The Boys is at 1.67 million (I think).
According to the email I just received from Billboard, prognosticators expect Katy Perry's bounce to be smaller than Bruno Mars but larger than Beyonce's, who did not benefit much from her performance. Mars latest release at the time last year, Unorthodox Jukebox, had perfomed consistently strong leading up to the show. The CD was nowhere the hit producer as Teenage Dream, but quite a bit stronger than Prism. So Unorthodox Jukebox got the 300,000 bounce, while his first CD sold an extra 60,000 copies or so.
If Katy Perry preforms six songs, I hope she only chooses Roar and Dark Horse from Prism instead of feeling the need to perform and promote songs that went over poorly. She had several huge hits off of Teenage Dream she should choose over Prism, and if she makes this sensible choice, her middle album should get a bigger boost than her latest.
I predict she should get a boost of 120,000-160,000 for Teenage Dream, 30,000-50,000 for Prism, and 10,000 for Just One Of The Boys. I will
Not dwell on singles much, but she should help significantly speed up her progress toward 7 million for Firework and 6 million for both Roar and Dark Horse.
