Mickey Guyton's voice is incredible, and I want her to break this barrier. Charlie Pride did for black males originally at the format, but it closed back until Darius Rucker broke through at Country in 2008.

Another format with barriers to females is Active/Current Hard Rock. For example, in 2012 Lizzy Hale, the lead singer of Active/Hard Rock Band Halestorm, was the first female lead singer to ever reach #1 on the Active Rock Chart with the band's song "Love Bites (So Do I)."

A couple of years earlier, Christian Rock band Skillet broke two barriers. Skillet was the first Christian Rock band ever to top the Active Rock Chart with the song "Awake And Alive," and the male lead singer shared vocals equally with the band's female drummer, making the song the first to have a female singing on a #1 Active Rock track ever.

Well only 4 new females this century lead even 2 T10 country radio singles - 2 from reality TV (Idol, Nashville Star), one who flopped after her first big era (Gretchen Wilson), and one gracing us with Her presence after descending from Her celestial realm in the sky.

So it'll be a very steep hill.

Sad thing is that ignorance is common since most inventions and innovations by black people are swept under the rug and forgotten. Then you have people like that spewing "Black people never contributed anything," while everyone elses history is well documented and celebrated. And on top of that, most of us barely know our own history since no one is encouraged to find it. It's just as vague as our ancestral roots.

As for records, what exactly did she break? The amount of radio adds she got was impressive for a debut single, but I don't think she actually broke anything.

I hope she finds success, I'll listen to the record later. It'd be nice to have some new female singers on the genre to diversify it since Danielle, Kacey and Cassadee are clearly not gonna get exposure.
