It's not naive. It's just not what she wants. Do you think not promoting your singles is a sign of someone who wants a #1 hit?
Hits are your only argument, and yet you fail to acknowledge that Beyoncé is only a bigger star than she was in 2009, without all those hits you crave for her and that the majority of hits from the past year are all rather urban influenced.
You've also neglected the fact that XO and Pretty Hurts, her two pop singles peaked at #45 and #113 respectively while her urban singles, Drunk in Love, Partition, Flawless and 7/11 peaked at #2, #23, #41 and #13 on the Hot 100. All higher than her pop singles' positions.
So can you honestly say that not making pop music has hurt her?
