Also, the stories that could unravel is the most effective way of bringing views. Only reason the ratings wont be great is if people don't want either team to win so they won't watch, like a member said earlier. The reason you watch to root against a team is hoping the other team beats them, but they're both unlikable.

Also the views difference from 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 was like 5 mil. That's 1/20th of the 100 mil+ that watched. It's not that big of a deal
