Classics don't mean anything if the artist itself is forgotten. It's like calling Los Del Rio a legendary group just because "Macarena" was huge. "Friends" might be the "Macarena" of the TV-world (although "Macarena" was a global song whereas "Friends" is mainly only really huge in the Anglosphere) but Ani herself? Slowly but surely becoming an afterthought.
I have never thought about it this way, this is kinda true.
I don't know why so many people on this site like to act as if having memorable songs/videos/performances/looks is something that doesn't matter. It just makes you look like a half-wit bandwagoner who's only around when the pop stars are on top of the charts. Like if you're gonna be that way, you might as well start stanning for Michael Buble. After all, his albums sell well, so he's clearly one of the defining artists of our time.
