but then again there are a lot of black or asian etc pop singers who are great who wish they could get signed and given a push..yet they dont get the same chance

The US still believes in the one drop rule so if you have ancestry other than white you automatically are not white which is so weird for me as I come from a country where most people are, to varying degrees, mixed with white and native peoples. But many of those non-white artists have white in them, unless Akon was smashing I guess.
