Tbh, if she doesn't win this year she need to start paying dust to the Grammys.
I know it's a good platform for promotion, but at this point it's getting ridiculous going every year and leaving empty handed.

They both exploit each other... they nominate her so she'll always appear and perform and boost ratings and she promos her own material at the GRAMMYs.

Well...they nominate her every year since her debut so let's not be that pessimist, she's respected, I mean, she's been nominated EVERY year, she will one eventually but only with a big hit in Q3. The critics nowadays forget every hit of the year and vote for the 'fresh' hits aka All about that bass, shake it off, take me to church, chandelier etc.

The people who choose the nominees are different from the actual Grammy committee. Katy only gets so many nominations because she's a massive name that sponges up a lot of the pop voters votes, but can't attract the actual important voters attention.

Thats why she struggles to get nominated in the four Main Categories. She managed to get Teenage Dream into album of the year as all the Pop voters focused on her, whereas Prism will have lost pop voters to Beyonce which would also have support of R&B voters etc.

Oh, forgot The Fame Monster was up that year. Teenage Dream must've scraped into that category by the skin of its teeth. It must've had the pure pop voters whereas The Fame Monsters had Pop and Dance voters, each genre pretty much had its own entry that year so maybe the 5th slot had a low entry requirement. Dunno, I'm basing my assumptions on observations not insider knowledge.

I don't call them Pop voters meaning they *only* vote pop acts in every single category, just that they come from Pop fields in the music industry. Beyonce and Katy are both female pop stars that pop fans love, their votes will have definitely been split and Katy doesn't have a secondary voting block to support her (plus Ed and Pharrell stealing votes, very pop friendly category this year).

Lol she obviously LOVES her music. Especially songs like TIHWD and Walking On Air.

No one forces her to be as tacky/extra-colorful as she is. She even performs unconditionally in a butterfly hat

I think she definitely needs to get her **** together before the next era and decide on one mood.

She said on Twitter that she likes all three of her records for different reasons.
I don't think she dislikes OOTB at all.

I mean, she is the lead songwriter of all her material so obviously she doesn't abhor her stuff completely. I don't think she would release a song that she didn't like (at least at the time)
And her singles are manufactured to an extent, she's not expecting them to be artistic masterpieces. No reason to hate them, really. Especially when they rake in the dough.
