Ariana kinda is a sell-out, but it's what was best for her anyway. A Nickelodeon actress singing R&B ballads was a complete novelty, and she would not have shot off into stardom like she did if she recorded a Yours Truly 2.0. That album still obliterates discographies, though.

stronger isn't an edm track.

firstly, edm is too much of a vapid umbrella term. secondly, the electronic backing is only really used to punctuate the hip hop elements of the song whereas typical 'edm' is structured around instrumental build ups and break downs.

you wouldn't call blame game 'essentially' a classical (in that avril 14th emulates the styles of classical piano) track because of the sample. it's not at the forefront of the song.

Their previous album before that was flopping, so they slapped Moves Like Jagger on it and pushed that song. After it took off, they just decided to go as far as possible in that direction without looking back until "V."

V has some good songs like It Was Always You, but they are not as good as the songs from IWBSBL tbh.
