the Grammys may be hated for their bias but at least black people are equally represented there, moreso than the Oscars at least.

You've got to remember film, theatre, musicals etc. are geared primarily towards White customers. Its been like that for generations. Earlier productions from Shakespeare, early literary adaptions i.e. P&P, Copperfield, Disney classics like Snow White, Cinderella were all characters with white skin.
Black characters would usually be the singular, the token one to be more 'represented'. Sure, there have been exceptions to the rule but that generally is the gist. Its so complex, and crazy the acting industry.
