I love how some muslims poo-pooing this can't see past the image of muhammad to the fact that it's a loving image full of unity, forgiveness, and dignity  All they can see is the shallow surface, not the heart, which tends to be the problem with people who don't understand comedy or intelligent things in general.

RIP to all live lost but what I don't seem to get is why these cartoonists continue to publish the very thing they were targeted for? Especially in this situation where the incident IS STILL SO RECENT! I get the freedom of speech argument but we already know what these terrorists are capable of, why add fuel to the fire? Religion is such a controversial topic, it should be BANNED in media but that's my opinion

It's the principle of the thing. By continuing to post and live on undisturbed, the cartoonists are proving themselves courageous in the face of terror.
If these cartoonists stopped drawing Muhammad, that's when you know the terrorists have won.

Like many have already said, it's prohibited to draw him..if you know that the consequences can be deadly for messing with things like these.. why do it?

It's prohibited for the religion, not for everybody. Christians are prohibited from eating shellfish in the bible. Slavery is legal in the bible. We cannot live our lives according to religious texts because it is the equivalent of living them according to fairy tales or history textbooks.
It is deadly to protest against the government in many cases, yet people from Hong Kong to Ferguson have all done this within the last year and a half. Why do they do it? Knowing they will face tear gas, tanks, etc?

Disgusting. Truly sick and disturbing that someone would try to justify that, and no, it is not prohibited to draw him. France is a free country, not a theocracy dominated by backwards beliefs.
Do you not realize how ludicrous and frightening it is that people have to fear for their lives for drawing a man? How could a rational person ever say something like "well they knew they might get killed, shouldn't have done it!"? Do you want to live in a fascist state?
