I do understand how the length of the TWOD album (and moreso the songs themselves) can be a roadblock. Believe me, there was a time where I was the same way. And I still get that way about certain albums that don't feel like they're going anywhere. If nothing else, though, Lost in the Dream was definitely trying to do SOMETHING, aspiring to be something more than noise.

Letterman always has some obscure artists perform on his stage, which I find surprising for an older man to appreciate.

Oh most definitely, I can totally tell, it really puts me in that sort of mood throughout the course of the album and like, at the end of it I get this magic tingly feeling which sounds a bit lame but it's a very nice feeling.

To hear that Lorde was gonna curate this whole soundtrack, I was really excited. And she really did a great job collating an album's worth of songs that are diverse yet go well with each other. She reached out to people from Ariana Grande to Grace Jones and she made them sound like they were meant to be placed in the same album. While I feel that the music should have a more nationalistic tone to go with the story of the movie, this is a stellar piece of work from an 18 year old with the brains and guts.

Best: Meltdown (Stromae feat. Lorde, HAIM, etc.), Dead Air (CHVRHCES), Kingdom (Charli XCX feat. Simon Le Bon), Yellow Flicker Beat (Lorde), This Is Not a Game (The Chemical Brothers feat. Miguel)
