I know this is kind of a silly, looked-down upon topic; but I feel like this need to be iconic is really effecting the way some users interact and is ruining their experience on the board.
By no means am I "iconic", but I can tell you right now that the best way to become a prominent member is to be yourself, be a consistent poster (in different threads/sections) and don't worry about trying to impress people. Sure, the whole spamming the same GIF/making troll threads/horse jokes/breaking your leg (RIP) thing might be entertained with a positive response at first, but it'll get old. Unless you want a negative connotation with your username, that's not the way to go about it.
Being yourself is the key- it'll take longer, but as people come to better understand your personality and character they will like you more and you'll begin to build a circle of friends. Even users like ks_dolla, who's most known for his random behavior and Lounge threads, still interacts normally in threads outside his own. He's a funny guy, it's what he does, but not everyone has to, or even can, be like that- which is okay.

"it's never that serious" I know- but like I said, I feel like some users experiences are ruined by this idea of popularity, so I wanted to address it.
