I've heard this complaint about Nolan many times and never really understood it because with the exception of The Prestige and Insomnia, his films never failed to move me.

I loved Captain America I for its dated and it being based in the forties. Then I loved the sequel for Captain and ScarJo's chemistry. I hope the third will be good for me.

The Thor movies are so disappointing IMHO.

His movies are well-done, though, so the watch is never boring or awful. It's just not as deep as he makes it out to be and that blocks the fun unlike the case with other blockbusters who know their place.

How do they block the fun? you analyse them too much. Would you feel different if you didn't know that they were Nolan movies?.

I would never take seriously a sci-fi movie and those 2 are the perfect examples of movies that are extremely entertaining

I enjoy films more when they have a slight edge or something original or out-of the-box. I know that sounds pretentious, but I think they're more interesting and stimulating compared to films with flat or one-dimensional characters and plot.
