Dreanworks CEO said the songs recorded by Rihanna will be played during the movie to accompany different scenes, yet they're recording the score film without Rih? I'm confused.

Themes and songs are two different things.

Lorne Balfe is a film composer, so he's doing themes, it has nothing to do with Rihanna's songs.
Maybe he did a few themes inspired by one of rih's song (orchestral reworked melody), but that's it.

Basically what Scherzy said and
Rihanna songs are going to played on like the radio while they in the car and stuff like that. (The song we heard in the trailer probably won't be in the final film kinda like how during the creation of the movie they played her old tracks at the parts where her new music will be played)

Scores are more used to set moods and stuff like that kinda like how they play music before someone gets killed in a horror movie just to built suspense.

a few possibilities:

1) she's singing some of the songs and the rest are simply orchestral pieces
2) she's singing songs that involve orchestra/choir

but a score and a soundtrack aren't always mutually exclusive. if rih only did 5-6 songs, the rest of the album could be filled with music that is technically the "score" so we don't really know yet

i feel like the idea of a legit full-length album has been called into question the past few weeks. if the pieces made for the "score" are relatively short i could see them being used as interludes/place-holders in between the random songs rih recorded.

Rih has recorded 12 songs for the soundtrack, but we don't know if all of them will be on the album..

We don't know yet if the album will feature only Rih but I also think that it won't be a "Rihanna album", we'll have the answer soon tho.

Since gomillion are close to Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez.. I lowkey hope they do a spread featuring Rih&J.LO in March. like even it's for Entertainment Weekly or some ****.
